At the foot of the site of the old Belfry from which the alarm was rung
in 1775 to rally the militia to Lexington Common sat a lovely antique
colonial (circa 1848) in much need of repair. Boyd/Smith purchased
the historic home and assembled a small army of architects and builders
to begin a painstaking renovation with astounding attention to detail. With
the assistance of the Joseph W. Dick Residential Architectural Firm, the
respectful restoration included hand-milled kitchen cabinetry, farmer’s
front porch, sweetheart staircase, and custom-stained glass windows, just
to name a few of the unique architectural elements that make this property
a real treasure in Lexington’s
Historic Register.
